According to multiple reports, the Philadelphia Eagles held an interview with Joe Woods, the defensive back coach for the Minnesota Vikings, for their vacant defensive coordinator job yesterday.
The Philadelphia Inquirer and the Minneapolis Star-Tribune, citing league sources, said Woods was third defensive backs coach the Eagles have spoken with for the position formerly held by Sean McDermott.
The Inquirer, citing a team source, also reported that the team plans to interview at least one coach from either the Green Bay Packers or Pittsburgh Steelers after the conclusion of the Super Bowl.
Woods has been on the Vikings’ staff for five seasons and with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for two seasons before that. He also spent 12 seasons coaching in the college ranks.
The Eagles previously interviewed New Orleans Saints defensive backs coach Dennis Allen and Chicago Bears secondary coach Jon Hoke. Allen was later hired by new Denver Broncos coach John Fox as his defensive coordinator.
