The Duke’s Picks – NFL Week #6

by Michael DeLuca

Alright, so I’ve slacked off a bit. But after a 12-2 week against the spread in Week #5, I figured what better time to hop right back in and throw out a new edition of The Duke’s Picks. Week #6 sees me bucking my usual trend of favoring high upside underdogs and swinging straight for the fences by laying some big time points. The reason is simple, there’s no more parity in the NFL…some teams are just really friggin shi**y!

PITTSBURGH STEELERS - 13.5 Cleveland Browns – Polamalu’s back. Cleveland sucks. Pick = Pittsburgh Steelers

MINNESOTA VIKINGS -3 Baltimore Ravens – Having a hard time understanding why this spread is only three points. Regardless, it’s my pick of the week. Pick=Minnesota Vikings

GREEN BAY PACKERS -13.5 Detroit Lions – Detroit has one good player…he’s hurt. Pick = Green Bay Packers

Philadelphia Eagles -14 OAKLAND RAIDERS – My intramural flag football team could cover 14 against the Raiders. As long as JaMarcus McTelletubby is starting, just go the other way. Pick = Philadelphia Eagles

NEW YORK JETS -9.5 Buffalo Bills – If you told me prior to the season that I would be laying 9.5 with the Jets in this one, I’d of thought you were smoking crack. Yes, the Jets have been better than expected, but that’s not why I’m going with them in this one. It’s on the other side, where the Buffalo Bills have been brutally decimated by major injuries on both sides of the ball. It’s shown in the past several weeks, it will continue to show in this one. Go Green. Pick = NY Jets

NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS – 9.5 Tennessee Titans – What? You knew I couldn’t make it a whole week without throwing in a couple of underdogs. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, the 09′ Pats are frauds, living off the fumes of prior success. Pick = Tennessee Titans

SAN DIEGO CHARGERS -4 Denver Broncos – Do I think the Broncos are for real, no. Should any 5-0 team ever be getting more than a field goal, no. Is Norv Turner and idiot, the answer’s in the pick. Pick = Denver Broncos
