Philly.com is reporting that the Phillies and Jays continue to talk about a deal for Roy Halladay, even quoting J.P. Riccardi as saying (i’m paraphrasing here) that the Phils and Jays are still talking but that they (Phillies) still have not met their needs for Halladay. Meanwhile, Jayson Stark seems to think that both Riccardi and Ruben Amaro are under a tremendous amount of pressure to pull off a deal and he quoted multiple baseball men who believe it will eventually come to fruition. More updates to follow as they become available.

PCPSPORTS UPDATE : Sal Butera, a chief scout for the Blue Jays, is in Lehigh Valley tonight watching Jason Donald play in his first game since early June. Also, several media outlets are reporting that there is an internal struggle among the Phillies brass. The top scouts and assistant GM’s are hell bent on not trading top minor league talent for a myriad of reasons. At the other end of the spectrum is former GM and current adviser Pat Gillick thinking the Phils should just “go for it,” a sentiment shared by Phillies manager Charlie Manuel.
