Phillies fans saw plenty of this during Eatons tenure
By Mike Gill
We interupt the NFL news and notes to let you know that the Phillies have put finally put Adam Eaton out of his misery, releasing the biggest mistake of the Pat Gillick era.
He went 14-18 with a 6.10 ERA in 51 appearances (49 starts) for the Phillies and made a grand total of $24.5 million for that effort including $8.5 million this season, plus a 500,000 club option for next season.
That means he is offically out of the running for that number five spot in the rotation, not that he was ever in that race to begin with – he stunk.
The fact that he was released isnt the story, the question is why now?
He has ben God-awful since he got he, went to the minors and stunk up the joint there too. There was zero chance he was making this team, they could have released him then, but they decided to wit till now, maybe they just wanted to make sure everyone showed up to camp with all their limbs attached, breathing and able to at the very least crawl to the mound.
The could have sent him to the spring training mound, showed him off for another team, but why waste time taking time from someone else, good for the Phillies, not saving a million and just letting him go by cutting their losss.
He will have a fun 15th and 30th every month though for doing the same as you and me!
About time. Hated the signing when they made it and have been waiting for his exit ever since. Hopefully, it will be a case of simple addition by subtraction.
