Happy Thanksgiving everyone. I hope your turkey is more enjoyable than the games the NFL has selected for you today. In my 29 years on Earth I have never been less excited about Thanksgiving football.
Anyway, here are the picks for this year’s edition of Thanksgiving Football:
Tennessee Titans (10 – 1) v. Detroit Lions (0 – 11)
Ironically enough, this is not the first time the Lions will be winless on Thanksgiving. It won’t probably be the last. But i digress. The Titans are pissed after being owned by the Jets last week. The Lion offense looked better as of late but the defense is in shambles. Expect LenDale White and Chris Johnson to have big games. The Titan defense should score. Finally a game where Kerry Collins doesn’t have to win it and you can go back to overrating the Titans, the third best team in the AFC.
MY PICK: Titans
Seattle Seahawks (2 – 9) v. Dallas Cowboys (7 – 4)
While Seattle kept the Redskins close last week, they are facing a more potent offensive on the road. The Cowboys are just plain better. Tony Romo is back, the offense is clicking and is close to getting their rhythm back. They need this game and they know they need to get to 8-4 before they enter the tough stretch of the schedule. Expect a blowout.
MY PICK: Cowboys
Arizona Cardinals (7 – 4) v. Philadelphia Eagles (5 – 5 – 1)
Arizona is the trendy pick and the focus will be on McNabb’s benching. I think we’ve seen that he should be the QB for the season. I think this whole soap opera, combined with a short week is a recipe for disaster for a team that just isn’t that good. Westbrook is still hurting, the receivers can’t run routes and Andy Reid’s decision have been more dangerous than his sons. The Cardinals have a potent passing game. Go against a poor pass defense and the pick is easy.
MY PICK: Cardinals
There you go. Try to enjoy the games, they’ll be over soon.
Tom,
Though I agree that the Eagles are not a good team, I think they win this one. Arizona traveling West to East for a Thursday game after playing a late (4:00 EST) game Sunday probably will not bode well for Bidwells.
Looks like you were right on that one. I’m almost tempted to let Andy Reid post on here saying he told you so.
A nice win for the Eagles.
