It’s the battle for the NL wild card and believe it or not, the Mets and Brewers are neck and neck with each
other. Some say the difference maker is Santana, some say it’s Sabathia. Sabathia will pitch on 3 days rest- that’s the difference right? The Mets won’t take any risks with pitching Santana on 3 days rest unless they were hanging on to their playoff chances by a thread. For the Brewers, it’s been some 26 years and waiting. For the giant market Mets, it’s been like 2 years and waiting, and the only thing preventing them from winning the wild card is their blowing of a 7 game lead last September- I mean you really really have to choke to pull something like that off.
Thanks to the NY media, who have been writing that last year’s collapse isn’t bothering the team, the Mets are being bothered by both the media and their inability to win games last September.
The Brewers won’t have CC next year, Ben Sheets disabled list record is starting to look like Mark Priors’, and Brewers GM Doug Melvin is going to pull out all of his hair if the Brew Crew can’t make the playoffs. Brewers’ fans have had nothing to look forward to for some 2 decades, so come on Mets, just keep losing and let the Brewers have this one- they deserve it. Miller Park just has to have something Brewing this October- lets hope it’s the Brewers in the playoffs. Small market teams deserve to have a shot at winning it all- you shouldn’t be a condender every year based solely on the fact that your team is based in NY- better luck in Citi Field next year you slimeball Metropolitans. Who’s your opening day starter next year? Dwight Gooden? [realistically, it would naturally just be Johan but I don't know what Minaya has up his sleeve]
Cameron, Durham, Braun, Hart, Counsell, Bush, Gallardo, Weeks- all these guys deserve a shot at the playoffs, especially since Milwaukee fans just had a no hitter thrown at their park- and their team wasn’t even involved! So by the way, why is Gallardo pitching now for the first time since May? This is not a bright move by the Brewers- they’re fighting for their playoff lives and this is the best they can put out there as a starter? That’s a bit hard to believe. Well good luck fellas. Make sure to keep drinkin that Miller Lite or whatever free drinks you get for playing at Miller park. The team that Bug Selig owns may actually do some damage this year- who’d of thunk it?
The Mets have a 7 year investment in Santana, CC is gone afte this season…thats the difference.
They deserve nothing. This isn’t a talent competition. You have to win your games, and if you don’t you deserve to sit on the couch or work on your putts on the golf course (or in the bedroom).
it’s sad that one of these very inconsistent teams will be in the playoffs somehow- but thats the story of the NL. the AL seems a whole lot stronger
