For those of you who haven’t heard, Kevin Curtis is out for what is being described by Andy Reid as “a signficant amount of time.” Curtis was injured in Thursday’s preseason game against the Carolina Panthers
and it has now been diclosed that he will have sports hernia surgery. Reggie Brown, the Eagles #2, is already out with a hamstring injury.
My response, so friggin what. While I’ll be the first to tell you that the Eagles need a stud #1 primary receiver, I’ll also be the first to tell you that as far as depth at the position goes, the Eagles may have the best in the league. While there may not be a #1 in green, the Birds have 5 solid #2 guys. DeSean Jackson, Hank Baskett, and Jason Avant are all adequete replacements and to be honest with you, I’ve wanted to see what they could do if given more reps with the first team. The Eagles will no doubt piss us all off by showcasing Greg Lewis as a starter now, but they won’t be able to keep Baskett and Avant off the field.

I think they make a move, I cant see them trying to make it though 8 games or so with these guys. I like the core as well, I think all guys can contribute, but Curtis is the clear #1 guy here.
They’ve been trying to make a move for a receiver since last season ended. Nothing of value is out there. I can see them bringing in somebody like Devery Henderson from the Saints, who may get cut, but is he really better than the options we currently have on our roster?
Gotta agree wit dat. Curtis will probably be back by week 3 or 4 anyway. I think Avant could do well if they gave him some PT.
